This is obviously a matter of opinion and many will disagree with my choices. I only suggest and leave you to decide. First I would go for a computerized machine. These are the standard today and I firmly believe in staying up with technology. I really don’t see the point in learning on older machines when you can learn on modern computerized machines.
Some people would argue that it’s best to learn on older machines and move up slowly. This is a fair point but not one I agree with. If you’re starting from scratch you may as well learn on a new machine with all the mod cons on it.
If you learned on an older machine you would soon want to move to a more advanced machine and take advantage of all the computerized functions which simplify many tasks. So you may as well start on a computerized model
The good news is that the prices for a good machine are really reasonable and the functions these machines have are amazing. You can do things on a small machine in your home that required much bigger machines not so long ago.
There are a number of machines which I believe represent excellent value for money and which are good for beginners and experienced sewists alike. The Brother ES2000 is a good machine that I like the feel of.

Manufacturer’s Warranty:
The machine comes with a one year part and labour warrenty, with two years parts only on electronic pattern control and a 25 year warrenty on shafts and rods. To ensure the warrenty on the machine is honoured always buy from a big company like amazon or an established dealer. There's no point buying from some corner shop which won't be in busines in a year's time.
The manual that comes with the machine is excellent. Very well explained and backed up with good diagrams and drawings. You won't get lost setting up this machine.
All in all this is a good machine to get started on. The price is right and it has many functions as standard. Some people would argue that it’s better to learn on an uncomuterized model. I disagree,;that’s like saying it’s better to learn to drive in a 1920s ford.
